NOTD- Split Decisions

Today I have ‘nail of the day’ post for you. First of all I want to apologise for the bad quality picture of my nails! I don’t have my camera with me (as I am at my dad’s for the week) so I had to make do with one of his old cameras. I will have better quality pictures in the future when posting nail looks, I promise!

I couldn’t decide which colour to paint my nails, so I decided to go half and half with the colours I was deciding between. I really like how it turned out; I think that the pink and purple go really well next to each other and the colours are great for summer. Both nail varnishes are from Topshop- the pink is ‘Prim and Proper’ and the purple is ‘Parma Violet.’ I used Sally Hansen’s ‘Hard as Nails’ as both a base and top coat.

Shopping Wishlist!

Today’s post is 10 things that are currently on my shopping wishlist. I don’t think I need much more of an introduction than that, so let’s get straight into it!

Casual summer dress

First up are casual summer dresses. I think that dresses are great to wear in the summer; they are effortless and can be dressed down during the daytime and then dressed up if you are doing something special in the evening, as well as keeping you cool during the hot weather. I still have a couple of summer dresses that I bought last year and I am looking to add to the numbers as I think that they will be great for when I go away for a week (10th of August, not long to go!). Below are a few of my favourite casual summer dresses. They are from Republic, River Island and Topshop.

Nude flats

I’ve wanted some nude flats for a while. The majority of the shoes that I own are black so I think that it’s about time that I invest in a different colour! I could do with some nude shoes to wear with the jeans/leggings that are a brighter colour (I’m thinking of my pastel jeans) as my black shoes don’t really match that well with them, so some nude flats are definitely near the top of my wishlist! The shoes below are from Asos, Miss Selfridge and Topshop.

Casual tops

I feel that I don’t really own many tops that are ‘slouchy’ and good for wearing on the days where you need to get dressed, but would rather have a pyjama day. I want a good selection of casual tops mainly for when I start sixth form, but I will also get wear out of them on weekends when I’m staying at home all day. It’s also good because, due to the simplicity of them, they will most likely be quite cheap so I can buy several of the same top, just in different colours. I also think that I can dress them up a little bit so it looks like I have made a bit of an effort, perhaps with a long necklace or a few bracelets. The tops below are from River Island, Topshop and H&M.

Cross leggings

As I mentioned in my 5 Favourite Summer Trends post, I really want some cross leggings, so it’s no surprise that they are on my current wishlist. I think that they can add so much to an outfit and they can be worn with a simple top so that there isn’t too much going on, but still make the outfit look really nice. I’m looking for a relatively cheap pair, as I don’t want to spend too much on them as I’m not sure how much wear I would get out of them- I don’t even know if I’d be confident enough to wear them out of the house! Nevertheless, I still love them and it’s more than likely that I will buy some soon. The leggings below are from Topshop and Quiz.

High neck jumpers

I want a few high neck jumpers mainly to wear over the top of collared shirts, as I love the look of having the collar folded over the neckline of the jumper. Despite it being summer, they will be good to wear over the top of something when it’s a bit cooler so that there is the option of being dressed for it being warmer, should the weather change (British weather is very unpredictable!) I think that high necked jumpers look great whether they are worn with leggings or shorts, and can be dressed up with lots of accessories. They will also be a good transitional piece for wearing through into the autumn and winter as the weather gets cold. The jumpers below are from River Island, Topshop and Miss Selfridge.

Collar tips

I love the look of collar tips and I think that they look especially good on the ends of a collared denim shirt. I like how you can get a variety of different patterns, as well as the ones with a chain linking the two parts together. I think that they can really add a lot to an outfit, even if they are a small size. Collar tips are also relatively cheap, so I think that when I eventually do get round to buying some, I will probably buy a few pairs. These collar tips are from eBay, Asos Marketplace and Topshop.

Black shorts

I wear shorts quite a lot but I don’t own any black ones, only light and dark blue denim, as well as some patterned ones. Although these are great, there are some tops in my wardrobe that I always want to wear with shorts, but unfortunately they don’t always match properly with the ones that I have and would be much better suited to black denim, so I am on the lookout for a pair of black shorts! These shorts are from Warehouse, H&M and Topshop.

Bracelets

Although I own a lot of jewellery, I don’t actually have that many bracelets. I really want some bracelets that will add to an otherwise simple outfit. I’m looking mainly on online jewellery websites as these are often cheaper than high street stores, and I’ve seen a few that I like so hopefully soon I will be able to order some,  and tick bracelets off my wishlist! These bracelets are from Asos Marketplace, Forever21 and Rosewreck.

Chelsea boots

Most of the shoes that I own don’t cover the top of my foot, so if I’m out and it rains, my feet always get wet! I do own some biker boots which cover my whole foot, but they don’t always match with what I’m wearing, and I tend to keep them for if I’m going somewhere where it will be muddy, or if it has been snowing and I’m going out in it. I think that Chelsea boots will be a good alternative as they are casual and will provide adequate foot coverage on rainy days! I think that I’m more likely to buy flat Chelsea boots than ones with a heel, as I think that flats will be more appropriate for day-to-day wear. These Chelsea boots are from Asos, River Island and Topshop.

It will probably take me a while to buy everything on this list, but I’m sure that you can expect to see some of them appearing in haul posts over the next few months! What items are currently on your shopping wishlists? Let me know in the comments!

5 Favourite Summer Trends

Despite summer technically starting in June, the weather hasn’t been too great in England and for the last month or so, we’ve been having more rain than shine. However, the weather is starting to get better and summer finally seems to be here (yay!) which made me decide to do a post about 5 trends that I am loving for the summer months.

Pastel

Pastel is probably my favourite trend to wear this summer. I think it’s a really easy way to add a pop of colour to an outfit, without it being too vibrant. Wearing pastel coloured nail varnishes is probably the easiest way to incorporate pastels into an outfit. I’m loving Topshop nail varnishes at the minute, and below are some of my favourites from their range of pastel colours.
Left to right: Parma Violet, Prim and Proper, World's End

A pastel coloured top is another great way to wear pastels. They can easily be paired with a black skirt, leggings or shorts. You can probably find a pastel top in most stores. I bought the one below from Oasis a few months ago. I love the tie detailing on it and it can easily be accessorized with lots of different jewellery pieces.

Pastel jeans are something that when I first saw them, I wasn’t too sure about. I didn’t think that I would be able to pull them off and I wasn’t sure what I would wear them with. However, I couldn’t resist trying a pair on and as soon as I did, I was in love! I bought the below jeans from Topshop and I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of them. Despite it being summer, the typical British weather is still unpredictable so they’re great to wear on the days where it’s not so warm. I’m sure I’ll be buying a couple more pairs of pastel jeans to add to my sixth-form wardrobe as I now think that they’re a great piece that can be worn through into autumn as well.

Ombre

I think that ombre or ‘dip-dye’ has been a very hit and miss trend; some people love it and others aren’t so sure. I personally think it’s great and I love how easily and effortlessly it can be worn. I actually only own one piece that is dip-dyed, and that is the shirt on the left below, which is from Zara. However, I love dip-dyed tops and I think that they are very versatile as they can be paired with shorts or leggings. Ombre shorts are great to wear with a plain t-shirt and I think that I will definitely be investing in some ombre shorts before the summer is out!

Studs

I think I love studs simply because they can add so much to an outfit, even though they are only a small piece of detailing. I’m considering buying a pack of studs online and customising some clothes (maybe some shorts or a shirt) so if I do decide to do it then you can definitely expect a blog post about it! One of my favourite studded pieces has to be the shoes below from Topshop. These are currently my favourite pair of shoes; I wear them everywhere and they are so comfortable and look great with everything. I also think that studded collars and shorts are great ways to wear studs as they can both easily be worn with other pieces.

Crosses

One thing that I have been loving is crosses, whether they’re printed on a t-shirt or in jewellery form. I prefer to wear crosses as jewellery as I think that it is a more subtle way of including crosses into an outfit. I own quite a lot of jewellery pieces which include crosses- my friends have even started telling me to stop buying cross jewellery because I already own too much! Some of my favourites from my ever-growing collection are below. The two-fingered ring is from Dorothy Perkins, the pearl cross pendant is from Topshop and the stud earrings are from online jewellery website Kukee.

Patterned leggings

Although I’m unsure if I’d ever have the confidence to buy and wear them, I love patterned leggings for the days where it’s a bit cooler. I think that they look great when paired with the right top; I would choose a plain top and let the leggings be the stand-out piece of the outfit. My favourite patterned leggings would probably be the cross print leggings. I also think that galaxy-print leggings can look really nice when worn with the right things- they can be very hit and miss, depending on what they are worn with! I hope that I will be able to buy some patterned leggings soon (most likely the cross leggings) as I would love to be able to wear them- it might just take some getting used to as I usually stick to plain black leggings.

So that’s my 5 favourite trends for summer. What are your favourite trends for the summer months? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear what you think!

First Post!

Hello Hello Hello!

My name is Amy and welcome to my blog! I thought I’d start by just posting a little introduction.

As you should know by now, my name is Amy. I’m 16 and I am going to be starting my A-levels in September (scary stuff!) I decided to start this blog as it is something that I have been thinking about doing for a while; I love reading other people’s blogs, as well as watching beauty/fashion videos on Youtube. I don’t think I’d ever be able to make Youtube videos myself (I’m definitely not confident enough!), so I thought that a blog would be the next best thing for me to do. I’ve never done anything like this before so please be patient with me while I get the hang of it all!

I’m going to try and post as often as I can. My posts will all be about fashion/beauty, so shopping hauls, nails, make-up, trends I’m loving, you get the idea! As you may have worked out from the name of my blog, I LOVE shopping, it is honestly one of my favourite things to do, so you can expect there to be lots of posts regarding that area.

I’d love to get to know some of you who are reading my blog (if you do decide to read my blog regularly then thank you!) so please leave me a comment on any of my posts, maybe if you have a blog then link it, and I would love to check it out.
I can’t really think of much else to say, if you have any questions then feel free to comment with them, other than that, I guess this is it! Thankyou for reading my first ever post!

Amy
